China will provide the coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine to the people of the country free of cost once it becomes available. The country’s government authorities said this information on Saturday. News Reuters.
Zheng Zhang Wei, an official with China’s National Health Commission, said the government would provide free vaccines to citizens, even if it costs money to make and transport them. “Our citizensts do not have too spend a single penny for the vaccine,” he told a news conferencet in Beijing.
By the end of last December, China had begun vaccinating the general population for the first time. Earlier, under the emergency vaccine use program, people at high risk of coronary heart disease, including health workers, were allowed to be vaccinated.
In mid-December, China expanded its immunization program in the country. In an effort to curb the rise in corona infections during the winter and spring seasons, the program includes workers in some more important sectors, such as the food and public transport sectors. Zheng Jizin, an official with the National Health Commission, said the vaccines were being provided free of charge.
